Fullback John Kuhn was out of the NFL in 2018 Kyler Fackrell Jersey , but he didn’t announce his retirement as an active player as the year played out. That announcement came on Wednesday. The Packers released the news about a player who spent nine of his 12 seasons in Green Bay.“John was a terrific football player and tremendous teammate who contributed to many years of success for the Packers,” Packers General Manager Brian Gutekunst said in a statement. “He was a true professional whose work ethic and leadership set a great example both on the field and in the locker room. We want to thank John and his family for all they did for the Packers and in the community as well as wish them nothing but the best.”Kuhn entered the league as an undrafted free agent with the Steelers and saw his first action in nine 2006 games for the team. He moved on to the Packers the next year and played in 139 games for the team over the next nine years. He won a Super Bowl Davante Adams Jersey White , went to three Pro Bowls and closed out his career by playing two years with the Saints.Kuhn ran 217 times for 658 yards and 19 touchdowns and caught 98 passes for 642 yards and nine touchdowns over his entire career. The first outing for the 2019 Packers offense wasn’t a particularly impressive one and that’s left wide receiver Davante Adams straddling a fence as they head into this weekend’s game against the Vikings.Adams doesn’t want to push any panic buttons after one game in an offense that was installed this offseason. At the same time, he doesn’t want to act without a sense of urgency when it comes to putting forth a better showing sooner rather than later.“We’ve got plenty of time Clay Matthews Jersey White ,” Adams said, via the team’s website. “I try not to think about that — we’ve got time — because that tends to make people drag their feet. I’m an urgent guy. I like to get better quick. I like to see results fast.”Adams had four catches for 36 yards last weekend and getting those numbers up would be a step in the right direction for the overall results on offense in Green Bay.
Mike McCarthy well. Some include Mike McCarthy. In an interview with ESPN.com that will debut tomorrow Geronimo Allison Jersey White , McCarthy says of his firing, “It couldn’t have been handled any worse.” The teaser tweet from Rob Demovsky adds that McCarthy also will address his relationship with quarterback Aaron Rodgers and the claim from CEO Mark Murphy that complacency had infected the organization.McCarthy’s complaint makes a sharp departure from the warm and fuzzy feelings (as warm and fuzzy as possible) that resulted in McCarthy returning to the locker room and addressing the team after his termination, and purchasing a full-page ad of general thanks to Green Bay.Other topics that the interview may, or may not, cover include McCarthy’s inability to land the head-coaching job with the Jets (despite wanting it), his inability to secure an interview with the Browns (despite the presence of multiple former Packers executives in Cleveland) Montravius Adams Jersey , and his inability to control his temper at a high-school basketball game in late February. A long time ago ina galaxy far Matt Wile Jersey , far away...no one did mock drafts"WhiteFanposts Fanshots Sections Vikings 2018 SeasonVikings 2019 OffseasonU.S. Bank StadiumMinnesota Vikings PodcastsMinnesota Vikings 2019 NFL Draft2019 NFL Draft: Mock Wars, Tedisode 7.0: The Mock AwakensNew,91commentsA long time ago ina galaxy far, far away...no one did mock draftsCDTShareTweetShareShare2019 NFL Draft: Mock Wars, Tedisode 7.0: The Mock AwakensRick Spielman scoffs at mock drafts as they don’t have 11 seventh round picks.Kirby Lee-USA TODAY SportsHi gang, how are we on this Day Before Friday? Since we last did this most ridiculous of things, the Vikings further bolstered their line by re-signing G/C Brett Jones to a one year deal. I’m still puzzled as to why the Vikings traded for him, then didn’t play him at either center or guard much when all three guys playing said positions struggled mightily at times last season.Still, though, the Vikings further addressed depth, and when the signing was reported, part of the reason Jones stayed with the Vikes is he’ll be given a chance to start. So that gives Minnesota two offensive linemen signings in free agency this year, and I wrote in other pieces that I felt that was the minimum number of guys they needed to sign if they were going to improve the play of that position group. Are they the right guys? We shall see.So, let’s get on with this. If you care about previous mocks I’ve done, for some odd reason, and want to compare and contrast, the previous six are here:But if you are a person imbued with common sense, self-worth, and dignity and want to skip those, please do. I would also quit reading here.Oh, you’re still around. Okay. Cool, cool. Consider these the ground rules for how I do these mocks:I’m not a professional scout, coach, or GM. I am, however, a Professional Idiot. If you EVER get to the point where you think ‘man this guy is pretty sharp about drafting and stuff’ go back and read the previous sentence. Then talk to any member of my family, immediate or extended, and they’ll set you straight. My methodology is fairly straightforward. I’m using Fanspeak’s On The Clock deluxe, high falutin’ draft simulator Rashod Hill Jersey , that allows me to make and receive trade offers. In formulating and/or accepting trades, I’m using the 2019 Drafttek Trade Value Chart. I know most teams don’t follow it to the number, and other trades include players, like the Percy Harvin trade a few years back. Trading players in this simulation isn’t an option, and you have to have some kind of baseline, so this is mine:Now that free agency has essentially concluded for the Vikings, I think we have a better idea of their draft needs. The defense seems to be fairly set with Anthony Barr and Everson Griffen back, although depth is a concern in a couple areas. Minnesota’s biggest need is still the offensive line, even with the Kline and Jones deals...but I don’t think it’s a mandatory, gotta pick in the first round kind of need anymore. I still believe it’s the primary area of concern, so with that in mind this is what I feel are the Vikings needs:Offensive lineDefensive lineWide ReceiverMy draft strategy is to try and mimic GM Rick Spielman as much as possible—controlled aggression to get players that are dropping (see Dalvin Cook) or the best players available at a real position of need (see Pat Elflein). I know Spielman likes to have 10 picks heading into draft weekend, and if he doesn’t have them he’ll make trades get to that magic number, if possible. However, my ultimate goal is to get the best players I can assemble, not assemble 10 players. In setting up the draft variables, I chose to use Bleacher Report, as that seems to be the one that has been most consistent in their rankings. The computer is using multiple, as will be the case in real life, the setting is classic, and team needs are based off of Fanspeak. As we head to round one, these are the Vikings current picks:Yabba dabba let’s do this.1st RoundWhen the first round opens, I get two trade offers to move up:There are some great players available, and there are a couple I might be willing to trade up for, but not this far and not for this much. Both offers are too steep for me, and my actual preference is to try and trade down if I can. I decline both offers. When I come on the clock, I get two more offers:I really like both of these offers. The Falcons give me two fourth round picks, as opposed to a 4 and a 5 from Denver, but Denver’s picks are higher in rounds 2-4, and the higher value will allow me to trade back into the first round if I want to...which I do. I accept Denver’s offer Tom Compton Jersey , and these are now my picks:There are also picks 33 and 36 in the 7th round, so I have 11 total picks. Now, let’s get back in to the first round if I can. Kansas City is sitting at pick 29, and it’s worth 640 points. I can match that with my extra picks in the second and third rounds, but still have picks in both. My offer:The Chiefs wouldn’t bite unless I threw in the future pick. But with Minnesota projected to get four compensatory picks next year, I was comfortable doing it. These are now my picks available in this draft:And pick 36 in the 7th round, which I couldn’t get in the screen capture. So the net result for these two trades are I moved down 11 spots in the first round, up nine spots in the second, and added a pick each in the fourth and fifth round.I am now on the clock, and this is my big board:Selection: Garrett Bradbury, C/G, NC StateRationale: I don’t know what to make of Pat Elflein. As an obvious OSU homer, I want him to be the next Mick Tingelhoff, but so far he hasn’t been. I’m willing to give him the benefit of the doubt for his poor play last year due to his injuries, but if you look at his first two seasons of PFF scores, he’s been underwhelming. This should be a make or break year for Elflein, and Bradbury can either compete for one of the starting guard jobs, or push Elflein for the starting C job.2nd RoundWhen I come on the clock for the second round, I get two offers:I’ve got the offensive lineman I want, and I made a lot of maneuvering to get a high second round pick when it was all said and done, so the Dallas offer doesn’t really interest me. But, having two second round picks in a trade with New England would be nice. I’m also getting 610 points against giving up 490 points on the trade value chart, so I take the Patriots deal. These are now my picks:There is also pick 36 in the seventh round that isn’t shown. When I come on the clock at pick 24, I get two offers for pick 32:Although the two third round picks the Rams are offering are tempting, I want to keep both my second round picks, so I turn down both offers. My big board:Selection, pick 56 (2/24): David Montgomery, RB, Iowa StateRationale: I toyed with several options here Dan Bailey Jersey , as Elgton Jenkins and Nasir Adderley were seriously considered. I chose Montgomery because he’s the best player still on the board, and the Vikings need to improve their ground game. Part of that is getting the offensive line better, but they also need a guy that can come in right away and take the place of Latavius Murray. I’d be really excited with a 1-2 punch of Dalvin Cook and Montgomery, who is a very good pass catcher and pass protector. Now let’s look at the big board for pick 32:Selection, pick 62 (2/32): Nasir Adderely, S, DelawareRationale: Adderley has played both CB and safety in college, I think he would be an ideal fit for Zimmer’s ‘big nickel’ package, and he will see the field in multiple roles. I damn near picked him with my initial second round pick, so this is a simple choice for me.3rd RoundWhen the third round opens, I get two trade offers:I’m tempted to take the Jets offer, since I would get two more future picks back that helps me recoup the loss of the future second rounder I gave up in the Chiefs trade. In the end, I decline both, because I like where I’m at positionally in this round. When I come on the clock, this is my big board:Selection: Deandre Walker, EDGE, GeorgiaRationale: Riley Ridley is tempting here, but Walker is my pick. He’s the best EDGE rusher left on the board, and I think the talent at this position really drops off after him. Everson Griffen only has a couple years left with the Vikes, tops, and Walker can be put in the rotation and groomed to replace him.4th RoundNo trade offers, so this is my big board:Selection, pick 120 (4/18): Elgton Jenkins, C, Mississippi StateRationale: How the hell is Jenkins still available? Don’t know, don’t care. Easy choice, and the offensive line is fixed. The big board hasn’t changed that much in four picks. Selection, pick 125 (4/23): Emanuel Hall, WR Brett Jones Jersey , MissouriRationale: Hall is a speedster that can burn coverage deep, and could be used as a legit WR3 to complement Adam Thielen and Stefon Diggs.5th RoundNo trade offers. Big board:Selection: Blake Cashman, LB, MinnesotaRationale: The Vikings need depth at linebacker, and Cashman is a hometown kid. It would be a great story.6th RoundBig board:Selection, pick 190 (6/17): Kaden Smith, TE, StanfordRationale: The Vikings need to start looking for Kyle Rudolph’s eventual replacement. I don’t know that Smith is it, but Tyler Conklin and David Morgan haven’t really given me a warm fuzzy, either.Selection, pick 209 (6/36): Hamp Cheevers, CB, Boston CollegeRationale: No way the Vikings don’t draft a CB by now, and ‘Hamp Cheevers’ is a ridiculously cool name, a prime consideration for late round picks.7th RoundBig board doesn’t matter. You’re tired, I’m tired, and no one knows who these guys are, anyway.Selection, pick 247 (7/33): Donnell Greene, T, MinnesotaRationale: The Vikings need a tackle, and Greene seems like he’s worth a late round flyer. Ski-U-Mah, baby!Selection, pick 250 (7/36): Easton Stick, QB, North Dakota StateRationale: With FA QB Sean Mannion not getting a deal done when he visited the Vikings, Minnesota could decide to roll with Kyle Sloter as the number two guy behind Kirk Cousins, and Stick would then slide into the role of developmental QB, and instantly become the most poular QB in the state of Minnesota Ameer Abdullah Jersey , Todd Bouman and Gino Torretta be damned.RecapHere’s the complete draft class:And here are the trades I made to get these players:I addressed all the remaining needs the Vikings had, and I thought I made some pretty decent deals to get these 11 players. I like the potential in the running game with who I drafted with Bradbury, Montgomery, and Jenkins, while got depth at all three levels on defense, and I really like the potential of Emanuel Hall. For now, it appears that Minnesota Vikings receiver Laquon Treadwell‘s hold on the No. 3 receiver spot remains secure.Treadwell played on a career-high 88 percent of the Vikings’ snaps on offense in their 27-6 loss to the Buffalo Bills on Sunday, out-snapping fellow receiver Stefon Diggs.More Vikings coveragePhotos of the Week: 7/21/19 – 7/27/19Rookie Bradbury is central figure to Vikings’ overhauled offensive lineVikings depth at cornerback being tested, Hughes still not clearedPlayers to watch at Minnesota Vikings 2019 training campTop Tweets: Vikings WR Diggs makes push for All-NFL Style TeamQuestions about Treadwell’s role surfaced after the third-year receiver struggled with drops and other miscues in Week 2.The Vikings were publically supportive of Treadwell despite a poor showing in Green Bay — he caught just two passes on six targets, including a bobbled pass that resulted in an interception — but their moves behind the scenes told a slightly different story.Minnesota signed veteran receiver Aldrick Robinson, a former Washington teammate of quarterback Kirk Cousins, later in the week. However, Robinson’s Vikings debut consisted of just eight snaps, while Treadwell had a solid, if unspectacular, day, catching all four passes thrown his way and finishing with 33 receiving yards.Regardless, Cousins didn’t look Treadwell’s way often against Buffalo.Adam Thielen was Cousins’ go-to option once again, racking up 19 targets, while Diggs had 10. Running back Latavius Murray — who started in place of the injured Dalvin Cook — had seven targets, while fellow runner C.J. Ham and tight end Kyle Rudolph each had six. Other notes from Sunday’s game:— Center Pat Elflein made his season debut, playing 22 snaps.— Defensive tackle Tom Johnson, who returned to the Vikings last week after a stint in Seattle, played 22 snaps on defense.— Cornerback Trae Waynes left Sunday’s game in the first quarter, playing just 16 snaps on defense.— Rookie tackle Brian O’Neill played 47 snaps in his second career game, up from 32 snaps in Week 2.— Defensive end Stephen Weatherly started his first career game in place of Everson Griffen, playing on 51 snaps.— Rookie defensive back Mike Hughes was heavily involved once again, playing 79 snaps on defense in addition to his role on special teams.OFFENSEPLAYERPlays (66)%Reiff66100%Compton66100%Remmers66100%Cousins66100%Thielen66100%Rudolph 6497%Treadwell5888%Diggs5786%O’Neill4771%Jones4467%Murray3858%Elflein 2233%Hill1929%Ham1726%Boone1320%Conklin914%Robinson812%DEFENSEPLAYERPlays (67)%Barr67100%Sendejo67100%Kendricks67100%Smith67100%Rhodes6496%Hunter6090 %Joseph5481%Hughes5379%Weatherly5176%Richardson4466%Alexander3958%Gedeon274 0%T. Because why not?" Minnesota Vikings 2019 OffseasonThe definitive breakdown of the Vikings’ long snapper battleNew Garrett Bradbury Jersey Womens ,35commentsBecause why not?CDTPositional battles are usually the main talking point through the spring and especially in training camp, and for good reason. Usually, one of those positional battles is not at the long snapper position, but this year we’re in for a treat. The Vikings drafted Air Force long snapper Austin Cutting in the seventh round of the NFL Draft, and that means...long snapper battle! And that means...time to watch some long snapper film and do a full breakdown of this competition. So here we go.Kevin McDermottRight, right. McDermott went undrafted out of UCLA in 2013 but signed with the 49ers and won the starting LS job after the draft. Then he was cut before the next season started and ended up playing part of the season with the Ravens. During the 2015 offseason, he signed with the Vikings and has been with them ever since.A couple notable moments from his Vikings tenure: He dislocated his shoulder in late 2017 and missed the playoff run, but got the job back after the season. Last season, he lost the tip of his pinky finger when it got caught in a facemask, so what did he do? He returned to the game, like it was nothing. The guy literally lost part of a body part and was like Garrett Bradbury white jersey , eh, whatever, let’s keep going. Legendary stuff, Kevin.Anyways, this is the only highlight video I could find for him, because no one seems to have made a pro one. Obviously not ideal considering this was seven years ago and it doesn’t really make sense to evaluate a pro player based on his college highlights. So I’m going to not do that, but if you wanna watch some snapping highlights from the 2012 season, go for it. If anyone finds a pro highlight video for McDermott, drop it in the comments or let me know and I’ll add it in.According to his bio on the Vikings website, he “went on a safari and tracked gorillas in Africa during the offseason.” Interesting. Austin CuttingCutting was drafted 250th overall in the 2019 NFL Draft and was the only LS selected. Anytime you pick a long snapper, people are gonna assume something is going on Garrett Bradbury Minnesota Vikings Jerseys , so I’m assuming something is going on. But before we even get into whether or not Cutting can really compete for this spot or what the Vikings are planning to do, we have to consider the fact that Cutting might not even be allowed to play.Because he graduated from the Air Force Academy, Cutting theoretically has to complete his two-year service requirement, which would make it pretty difficult to be on an NFL roster. He’s currently on 60-day leave after graduation, and he’s waiting for the Air Force to decide if he can defer his service requirement and if he’ll even be able to compete for a roster spot. The decision actually could have some wide-ranging implications for a number of Air Force athletes (not just football players), so it’s definitely worth following regardless. For the sake of this piece, let’s assume he can play, if only because if we don’t, then this article is over. And you don’t want that, do you? Before the film breakdown? Here we have the film. The punt snaps part is definitely more fun because we get to see him go tackle people, whereas the field goal snaps are just snaps. Check him out in the UNLV highlight starting at 2:22. A guy tries to block him off the line and fails miserably. The man cannot be tamed.Other important things: look at him killing it at the Big House. No moment is too big for him. And Minnesota Vikings Jerseys Stitched , something that could be useful, look at the game in the snow. He has experience in the cold! Could be huge for those NFC North road games in December. According to his bio on the Air Force website, he “helped Air Force hit 45 of 46 extra points and 10 of 13 field goals on the season.” I don’t know how we can use that information, but I guess that’s a good thing? What was the point of this?First of all, both these guys are beasts. Maybe you think long snapping is a joke, but these guys are serious athletes. Being a long snapper has to be one of the most thankless jobs in all of sports, because if you snap well nobody says anything and if you make even the slightest mistake everything gets blamed on you. I have no idea which guy is gonna win this competition. It seems like McDermott would have the upper hand, but why did Rick Spielman draft Cutting? Maybe it’s just a bunch of smoke with no fire, but I don’t think they would waste a draft pick just to rile people up (although to be fair, that’s basically what the Moritz Böhringer saga was). There’s also the fact that Cutting might not be able to play anyways, so we’ll have to wait for that to play out.Regardless Garrett Bradbury black jersey , though, this will be a fun one to watch. Training camp can’t come soon enough. Everson Griffen knows one thing for certain: “When I’m me, when I’m myself, I can play well,” Griffen said Tuesday, via Courtney Cronin of ESPN.The Vikings defensive end made 13 sacks and a third consecutive Pro Bowl in 2017. He dealt with mental health issues in 2018, keeping him out five games, and finished with only 5.5 sacks.Griffen opened up about his personal issues, saying he’s in a good place after a “rough year” that included hospitalization over concerns about his well-being.“It’s a progression each and every day,” Griffen said. “I’m taking it day by day, staying consistent with my life outside of football with those matters and stuff like that Garrett Bradbury Jersey Mens , and I’m happy. I’m happy. Am I back to myself? Yeah, I’m back to smiling, joking, that fun guy to be around, but I truly have an understanding of the things that I have to hold myself accountable with day in and day out. That’s what I took upon myself this offseason to handle and make sure I got a good handle on that to be able to come back with an open mind and ready to play football at a high level again.”Griffen, 31, took a pay cut to stay in Minnesota. He called it a “tough pill to swallow” but wants to finish his career with the Vikings.
With Russell Wilson playing like the midseason MVP Youth Blessuan Austin Jersey , the Seattle Seahawks are sitting in the middle of the NFC playoff race and potentially in the mix for a division title. But there is only so much Wilson can do, and if Seattle isn't able to fix its defensive woes, a schedule that is about to get significantly more difficult may eventually expose the Seahawks."I think he's the best quarterback in the game, so whenever you have him out there on the field anything can happen," Seattle running back Chris Carson said.Wilson was brilliant again on Sunday, throwing for five touchdowns in Seattle's 40-34 win over Tampa Bay as the Seahawks improved to 7-2. He now has 22 touchdowns and just one interception through nine games. But the fact Wilson needed such a starring performance to outlast the two-win Bucs is another indication of the tenuous line Seattle is walking. If Wilson's isn't great, and Seattle's defense isn't anywhere near what it's been in previous seasons of Pete Carroll's tenure, can the Seahawks be successful? Can they withstand a schedule that gets drastically tougher beginning this week with a Monday night clash against unbeaten San Francisco and features six games against teams with winning records over the final seven weeks?"We have the guys, we have the talent in the room, it's just putting it together," Seattle linebacker Bobby Wagner said. "These wins are really hard to come by, but when we get them it's important you don't let the win override the lesson that we need to learn."WHAT'S WORKINGThe connection between Wilson and his top two wide receivers is seemingly unstoppable at the moment. Tyler Lockett and DK Metcalf are on the cusp of huge seasons while still playing in an offense that is predicated on establishing the run. Lockett had a career-high 13 catches on 18 targets for 152 yards and two touchdowns against the Bucs. Metcalf was nearly as good Womens Blessuan Austin Jersey , with six catches for 123 yards and a 53-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter. And Seattle is about to add Josh Gordon to the mix after claiming him off waivers last week, although Carroll is tempering expectations for what Gordon could add."I'm just waiting and seeing. I've seen him on film, he looks pretty special," Carroll said.WHAT NEEDS HELPSeattle's pass rush continues to be a noticeable disappointment. The signing of Ziggy Ansah and the trade for Jadeveon Clowney, combine with what Seattle already had, was supposed to create havoc for opponents. Clowney has done his part, even if the sack numbers are disappointing. Clowney has found a way to be stout in the run game and create pressure on the passer, even if there quarterback hits and sacks aren't there. Ansah has been invisible outside of a few key plays. Ansah played just 52% of the snaps on Sunday against Tampa Bay and recorded only one tackle.STOCK UPSeattle's offensive line had one of its best all-around games against the Bucs. The Seahawks rushed for 145 yards, the most allowed all season by Tampa Bay's top-ranked run defense. Carson, despite two fumbles, rushed for 105 yards, the first back to top 100 yards against Tampa Bay. And in the pass game Authentic Blessuan Austin Jersey , Wilson had time and clear passing lanes to throw. He was sacked three times, but only once in the second half and overtime.STOCK DOWNSeattle admitted in the offseason it made a mistake by cutting Jason Myers during training camp a year ago and watching him become a Pro Bowl selection with the Jets. They signed Myers to a four-year contract worth up to $15 million to solidify a position of inconsistency the previous two seasons.Myers hasn't done his part in settling those concerns about Seattle's kicking game. He missed two field goals and an extra point on Sunday that somehow didn't end up costing the Seahawks. All three kicks missed were to the north end of CenturyLink Field, the last coming on the final play of regulation from 40 yards and would have kept Seattle from having to face overtime against the Bucs. Myers is just 3 of 8 from 40 or more yards this season and 5 of 9 for all kicks in Seattle. Those are not the numbers Seattle expected after making such a hefty commitment.KEY NUMBER1995 — Lockett became the first Seattle wide receiver since Brian Blades in 1995 to have at least 150 yards receiving and two touchdown catches in the same game on Sunday. Lockett is on pace for 104 catches for 1,363 yards and 10 touchdowns. The catches and yards would both be franchise records for the Seahawks.NEXT STEPSBefore getting to a needed bye week, the Seahawks get a chance to make the NFC West a race, traveling to San Francisco next Monday night. Seattle has won four of its last five trips to San Francisco and a win would move the Seahawks only one-game behind in the division race. There is a corner in every town in America that has a building where a business came in to a grand hoopla and failed in a short period of time; only to see another similar business take its place and also fail. This happens over and over. You shake your head and feel sorry for the people involved.Businesses who are more established have a much better chance at survival as long as they can adapt to change because change is going to happen. Banks are a business that are so foolproof that it’s almost like they can print their own money. Any bad decision they make can be rectified by the FDIC which is the government backing of their loans. Banks don’t usually fail. They are bought out by other banks. The NFL is a monopoly and has a business model that is hard to beat. They have a built in fan bases with cities giving them sweetheart deals because they employ many people, bring notoriety to the city, and serve as a source of pride for a community. People love their sports teams, and cities that have them want to keep them. Cities who don’t have a team want one. Teams can have great runs of success when they have the right combination of great players and coaching. San Francisco, New England Blessuan Austin Jersey Boys , Pittsburgh, Dallas and a long time ago Chicago and Cleveland come to mind. Some teams are perennial losers, but they can find success and turn around decades of poor performance. Pittsburgh and New Orleans come to mind. Success comes to the teams that do the best all around job. The owner hires the right GM, who hires the right coach. They draft the right players, and all of a sudden they are Super Bowl contenders. Teams are built from the top down in an organization. The worst thing a team can have is someone at the top who is inept at his job.If the guy who hires the GM is not on top of his team, seeing how everything is working, and making sound decisions then you are doomed. How could that possibly happen? You are an owner of the team. You have a huge financial stake in the team. You are a billionaire and want to hold your head up high in the most exclusive billionaires club in the world, the NFL. There is a word that has destroyed great businesses and organizations for centuries. That word is nepotism. When you allow a family member or close friend to run a business he has no clue how to run, disaster is on the horizon. This is doubly acute when the owner himself is a dim bulb and has the business trending down to begin with. When Woody Johnson bought the Jets back in 2000 he had to be approved by the other members of the exclusive NFL billionaires club. He was probably allowed to buy the team for three reasons: 1) He had no legal problems so his pedigree looked good to most owners. 2) His money was green and clean. 3) He is a veritable dolt when it comes to sports. I’m sure Jerry Jones (played football at Arkansas) and Jerry Richardson (played for the Baltimore Colts) were thrilled to have someone like this join the fraternity. All of Woody’s dealings and businesses had nothing to do with sports. He has shown a vague knowledge of football at best. When Woody introduced John Idzik as our new General manager he stated, “I introduced John to everybody here. I didn’t realize how big the organization is, when you see them altogether.”This should give you a clue to how often he actually went to the Jets facility and met with the people running his team.On why he choose John Idzik as GM Woody stated, “John stood head and shoulders above the rest.” This would have been comical (I’m sure it was to the rest of the NFL owners) if it didn’t reek of idiocy. The reference to head and shoulders was a plug for the family business at Johnson & Johnson. People in the know knew Idzik was a cap guy in the Seattle brain trust and had no influence or knowledge whatsoever of scouting Infant Blessuan Austin Jersey , team building, or acquiring players. He also had no knowledge of coaches or coaching philosophies so he had no clue on which styles would fit together, and which were incompatible. When Woody choose Mike Maccagnan as GM he relied on the advice of Ron Wolf and Charley Casserly to basically make the choice for him. Remember, Woody was the front man in the search for the replacement of Mike Tannenbaum. This ended with Woody looking stupid for hiring a guy so unprepared to be an NFL GM like John Idzik. Wolf and Casserly were well established NFL professionals but were well past their prime and out of the football circle of influence for a long time. They picked Maccagnan because he is someone Casserly had worked with in the distant past. Woody could not even work long enough to interview possible successors to lead his team, the most important position (if given full control) you can have on your multibillion dollar investment. He eschewed the power to hire his virtual replacement (because Woody would not be around) to a couple of out of the loop old guys. So when Woody took a position as the Ambassador to the United Kingdom he left the reins of the Jets to his brother, his much younger brother (12 years) who hasprobably never run anything his his life more complicated than a dishwasher, and I doubt he even ran one of those. To be honest I’m not sure that Chris Johnson has had to do much heavy lifting in his entire life.If the CEO of a Fortune 500 company handled a news conference the way Chris Johnson handled his yesterday the stock would have plummeted due to lack of confidence in the leadership of that organization. The man is the CEO of the Jets, he makes all the decisions when it comes to the Jets organization and management. He explained himself by saying, “Ah but it’s a process. Late this season I made the decision kind of deeply embedded in this organization more than I have in the past.” I know John B said it much better than I, but what the heck where you doing before? You had the #3 pick in the draft, $100 million to spend and a incredibly important Draft for your team, and later you decide to get more involved? Why would you let Mike Maccagnan make all of those decisions? Chris Johnson said in his press conference when they fired Todd Bowles Blessuan Austin Jersey Draft , “Mike and I have worked well together and well in sync and we have developed what I think is an excellent plan and that plan sort of really come together with Sam and that plan will include building around around Sam and our excellent young players and that plan now includes an excellent new coach.”If you got more involved with the team late in the season, you must have confirmed that Mike Maccagnan was the pilot of your team for the near future. Remember you were in sync with him. How can that all change in a few months after you let him spend a historic amount of money that you had to approve and hire a coach that you had to approve? It’s simple. Woody has to fire his incompetent brother and find someone (my hand is raised) to run this organization for the future (ok, John B and I will run it together). I wrote this in the past, and I believe it more now than when I wrote it. Jimmy Haslam (owner of the Cleveland Browns) once listened to a homeless man who told him to select Johnny Football (Johnny Manziel) in the first round. Haslam took this as an omen and directed his GM to select Johnny Football, which he did with the 22nd pick of the 2014 Draft. That turned out as a complete embarrassment and a disaster for the Browns. I would still take advice from that homeless man over Chris Johnson.I have nothing against Chris Johnson personally other than the fact he is a detriment to the team I have loved since childhood. His replacement would only serve to get the Jets back into playoff consideration with new leadership. His tenure since he took over has been a disaster, and that needs to change. I realize that Woody is not going to dump his brother on the street and embarrass the family. My only hope is he does the next best thing (or best thing altogether). I hope he hires a competent young, forward thinking GM like Joe Douglas (or someone better if you can find him), and both he and his brother just stay the#$@&^ out of the way and let that guy take us to the promised land. What do you think?
In 2016 the Jets used the 20th overall pick in the first round of the NFL draft to select linebacker Darron Lee.I used my tax refund that year to buy a new laptop computer because I broke my old one over my knee when I heard the pick. This is the exact quote Mike Mayock used after the Lee pick: ”He’s today’s NFL outside linebacker. He ran a 4.47 40 at 232 pounds. He’s a sideline-to-sideline Brian Winters Jerseys 2019 , three-down linebacker. His weakness is if you cover him up against a big body, he will struggle.” I knew the Jets were going to use Lee as an ILB as soon as the pick was made.He is not an ILB.He is an ankle grabbing tackler who cannot get off blocks. If you want a first round ILB, Devin White is what one looks like. Devin White is a downhill tackler with power, speed and a non-stop motor. He is the type of aggressive, fast, intimidating ILB that a team like the Jets needs. He is the new version of players like Dick Butkus and Jack Lambert.A fast flowing, quick reading, ballistic missile who loves to thrust through the offensive line and bring destruction in his wake. The Jets have Jamal Adams setting the tone in the secondary, this kid would do the same for the linebackers. If the Jets could somehow get Quinnen Williams to play on the D-line White Bilal Powell Jerseys , they would have the makings of a dominant defense. I know the Jets can’t get both (or can they?) but a guy can dream can’t he?Devin White is the kind of ILB you want playing for the New York Jets.Devin White 6’1” 248 lbs LSU #40.True Junior. After a nondescript freshman year Devin White has developed into an impressive player. He totaled 133 tackles with 14 tackles for loss, five sacks and one interception in 2017. His 96 assisted tackles led the NCAA in 2017 and his 14 tackles for loss were fourth in the SEC.In 2018 White increased his solo tackles to 54 (4.5 per game) and had 115 total tackles, 12 tackles for loss, three sacks, five passes defended, three forced fumbles and three recovered fumbles.White played more in coverage in 2018 because of his speed, covering running backs and tight ends. White is an imposing player with good strength and plus speed for the position. He is a sideline to sideline, three down linebacker who would likely have been a first round pick in the 2018 NFL draft had he been eligible.White plays in the SEC, arguably the bestconference in college football. If he can excel there I think he has a better than average chance at NFL success. Here against Florida White shows excellent speed. He is on a blitz and he does a good job of not showing his hand too early. Unfortunately White is late off the snap and gets a poor jump coming from 5 yards off the ball. Fortunately the QB’s first looks are covered and the left guard doesn’t even look for the blitz Bilal Powell Jerseys 2019 , giving White a clean shot. He takes advantage of it with blazing speed for a guy who weighs 248 lbs. Here against Tennessee White shows his excellent instincts. He reads the play and without hesitation makes the play in the backfield for a loss. These kinds of instincts are rare in an ILB. White sees the play, deciphers what is happening, makes an emphatic, confident decision, finds the hole, and executes the play using impressive closing speed and making a strong sure tackle. On this play White reads the play that is going up the middle but the hole is closed. The RB reacts to this by sliding to his right. The hole the running back sees is closed quickly by White, who slides to his left to make a forceful tackle for a minimal gain. The RB has a full head of steam but is stonewalled at the point of the tackle and even goes backward. From a different angle you see the play as White stonewalls the RB and uses his weight to pull the RB back. He also uses his strength to pull the RB’s arms apart, forcing a fumble. Watch how he turns his body just before the hit to get all his weight into the play and pull the RB back. These next two plays against Texas A&M show some impressive speed. First White is playing the LILB position. He blitzes at the snap and finds a nice hole between the DE and the DT. White’s speed beats the center, who is coming over to pick up the blitz White Trevor Siemian Jerseys , and he makes the tackle just as the RB gets the ball.On the next play White is playing the RILB position and reads the play well. He doesn’t over commit to all the play action to his left and keeps his edge responsibilities that the RDE neglects. By using his speed White is able to limit what could have been a big play to a 2 yard gain.On the last clip White is the LILB and the offense is in a one back set in a tight formation. White’s man on this play is the RB and White reads the play well. The RB doesn’t attack the LOS at the snap but instead he stands straight up with a cursory jab step to the right. When the QB turns his back to the LOS White attacks the play knowing it is either a play action pass or a run. White’s quick instincts ensure it is either going to be a sack or a tackle for loss and the RB has no escape as White makes a strong sure tackle.White is an exciting prospect who I like a lot. He is the high octane, tone setting player who can inspire a defense. He played on an LSU team that was horrible on offense in 2017 and which put the defense on the field early and often. He performed very well but he was raw as a player. He has evolved in 2018 with more rounded play and the ability to cover the seam and play in space.White has not yet declared for the draft and seems genuinely conflicted by the choices. If he does decide to come out he will likely be a top 20 pick. Trade rumors about edge rusher Frank Clark picked up steam over the last few days. On Tuesday the Seahawks dealt Clark to the Kansas City Chiefs.Seahawks agreed to trade their franchise player,..."Trade rumors about edge rusher Frank Clark picked up steam over the last few days. On Tuesday the Seahawks dealt Clark to the Kansas City Chiefs. It always felt to me like dealing for Clark would be an uphill battle for the Jets. The team simply lacked the resources to make a deal happen.I’m sure some people will be upset, but I think you have to look at this calmly. In life and football alike, sometimes you have to make sacrifices. Last year the Jets were in a position where they needed to land their quarterback of the future. They traded three second round picks to move up from the 6th overall pick to the 3rd overall pick so they could take Sam Darnold. Getting the quarterback meant the Jets would lack the resources to do things in the future. One of them was dealing for a guy like Clark. If Darnold pans out, this sacrifice will be well worth it.I also must note that I think the price to obtain Clark was too high for my liking even if the Jets had the necessary resources.
Well James Develin Jersey , that didn’t last long.Xenith announced Sept. 4 that it had a helmet partnership with Antonio Brown for him to wear its Shadow model. PFT noted Wednesday that Brown no longer was wearing a Xenith helmet. The helmet manufacturer announced Friday it has ended its relationship with the Patriots receiver, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.“We look forward to seeing the Xenith Shadow worn by football athletes at all levels of play this fall,” the company said, via Schefter. It is unclear whether Xenith ended its relationship with Brown because Brown decided to wear a different helmet or because of a lawsuit filed this week accusing Brown of rape and sexual assault.Brown filed two grievances for the right to wear the now-discontinued Schutt Air Advantage Womens LaAdrian Waddle Jersey , the helmet he has worn his entire career. Brown now is wearing a newer Schutt model called the Schutt Air XP, per Helmet Stalker. The NFL’s 100th season will be kicked off at Soldier Field in Chicago."In 2002, the NFL introduced the concept of the Kickoff Game. Instead of multiple afternoon contests opening each new season simultaneously, the league would have one prime time game do the trick moving forward. It was the New York Giants hosting the San Francisco 49ers back then http://www.patriotslockerroom.com/authentic-malcolm-mitchell-jersey , but the league quickly moved to a more attractive idea — one still in place to this day: the Super Bowl winners would host the first game of the season.Since 2004, when the New England Patriots beat the Indianapolis Colts 27-24, the reigning champions have opened every single season — always on Thursday, almost always at home (the 2013 Baltimore Ravens had to travel to Denver due to a scheduling conflict with the MLB’S Orioles). This year Dwayne Allen Jersey , however, will be different as the NFL announced as part of the currently ongoing owner’s meetings earlier today. The Green Bay Packers will visit the Chicago Bears’ Soldier Field to kick off the 2019 season and commemorate the league’s 100th anniversary. The two teams, of course, are founding members of the National Football League and have one of the most storied rivalries in all of American sports. The decision to have them open this anniversary season therefore makes sense from the league’s perspective even if it is a change from tradition. So where does that leave the Patriots Womens Vincent Valentine Jersey , winners of Super Bowl 53 in early February? They will get to open their season and unveil their sixth championship banner on prime time nevertheless — only three days later: the Patriots will player their first game of 2019 on Sunday Night Football against a yet to be determined opponent — with the Cleveland Browns, Kansas City Chiefs, New York Giants or Pittsburgh Steelers the most realistic candidates to visit Gillette Stadium that day.Of course, the NFL might also pick one of the Patriots’ other four home opponents — the Dallas Cowboys http://www.patriotslockerroom.com/authentic-danny-shelton-jersey , Buffalo Bills, Miami Dolphins, or New York Jets — to travel to Foxboro on September 8. We will have to wait until mid-April’s schedule announcement to definitively find out.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers reject the notion that they're the same old Bucs.Despite dropping their debut under coach Bruce Arians in a manner that's become all too familiar during the NFL's second-longest playoff drought Color Rush Byron Cowart Jersey , the mistake-prone team showed signs of progress in some key areas during a 14-point loss to the San Francisco 49ers, including development of a running game capable of making Jameis Winston's job easier. The fifth-year pro became the franchise's career passing leader, but also undermined the team's chances of winning by throwing three interceptions — two of which were returned for touchdowns. The Bucs also lost a fumble, had a punt blocked and were penalized eight times for 87 yards, including a pair of holding calls that nullified two touchdowns in the first half."After watching the tape, it was obvious the penalties were probably the biggest thing in the game, other than the turnovers," Arians said Monday.Tight end Cameron Brate, who was on the receiving end of both TD passes that were called back, resisted the temptation to attribute the mistakes to growing pains in a new offensive system."We thought we had a really good training camp," Brate said. "We won some games there in the preseason, kind of got a blueprint for winning games Youth Byron Cowart Jersey , but it just kind of unraveled for us (Sunday)."WHAT'S WORKINGGetting the running game going is a big part of Arians' plan to help the Bucs become relevant again. Tampa Bay had the fifth-ranked rushing attack during Winston's rookie year in 2015, when the Bucs won six games. Ground production has declined sharply since then (24th in 2016, 27th in 2017, 29th in 2018).With second-year RB Ronald Jones II leading the way, the Bucs averaged 4.7 yards per carry on the way to gaining 121 yards on 26 attempts against the 49ers. That not only puts them on pace to have their best running attack since they averaged 135.1 per game four years ago, but also figures to ease some of the burden on Winston to carry the offense."I think all quarterbacks are the same unless you're Tom Brady," Arians said. "You've got to run the ball and stay balanced."Tampa Bay averaged 95.2 yards per game rushing last season, the 11th consecutive year the team failed to make the playoffs.WHAT NEEDS HELPThe offensive line remains a concern. While there's reason to be encouraged by the way the team ran the ball against San Francisco, pass protection was suspect during the preseason and again in Sunday's opener. The 49ers hit Winston five times and finished with three sacks. The pass rush was also a factor in the quarterback forcing a throw on an intended screen pass that was intercepted and returned for the clinching TD.STOCK UPJones, a second-round draft pick who was disappointing in limited playing time as a rookie in 2018, carried a career-best 13 times for 75 yards against the 49ers. A year ago he was inactive for seven games and averaged just 1.9 yards per attempt, finishing with 44 yards on 23 carries with one touchdown."That's something we can really build off of Womens Byron Cowart Jersey ," Arians said."Definitely the coaches are showing more belief in me. ... I've just got to make the most of it," Jones said.STOCK DOWNTE O.J. Howard had four receptions for 32 yards, but did not have a stellar opener. He fumbled after a 10-yard reception to the San Francisco 9, costing the Bucs an opportunity to kick a field goal. He also had a pass skip off his hands on the first of Winston's three interceptions.INJUREDBucs didn't report any significant injuries during the opener. WR Mike Evans played the entire game, despite being slowed by a flu bug. Same for rookie LB Devin White, who Arians said has tonsillitis. White, Howard (ankle), Jones (toe), DT Rakeem Nunez-Roches (finger) and WR Bobo Wilson (ankle) all practiced Monday.KEY NUMBERFour. Days between the opener and a road test at Carolina on Thursday night.NEXT STEPSArians had a simple message for players when the team reassembled Monday to begin preparation for the Panthers. The opener's over. Move on."Learn from what you did, get it corrected," Arians said. "And you get it corrected, the wins will start happening." KANSAS CITY Authentic Byron Cowart Jersey , Mo. (AP) — Patrick Mahomes struggled in the first half and dazzled in the second Sunday night.Nobody knows how he might have fared in overtime. The Chiefs’ young All-Pro threw for 295 yards and three touchdowns against New England, almost all of it after the break, only to watch the extra session from the bench. The Patriots won the coin toss and never gave him a chance, scoring on the only possession they needed to escape with a 37-31 victory in the first AFC championship game ever played at Arrowhead Stadium.“I thought if we got the chance we’d score,” said Mahomes, who instead praised the Patriots’ Tom Brady for converting a trio of third-and-10s to give Rex Burkhead a chance to score the winning TD.“He had a great drive,” Mahomes said. “Big moments, guys made big catches for him.”Mahomes had plenty of big moments in his own right. After a dismal first half in which he was 4 of 8 for 65 yards and three sacks, Mahomes caught fire in the third quarter. He needed just four plays to find Travis Kelce for a touchdown that trimmed a 14-0 deficit in half, then kept slinging the ball in what became a back-and-forth fourth quarter. The Patriots scored two touchdowns. The Chiefs managed three.Mahomes was behind it all, shredding a Patriots defense that had played reasonably well down the stretch this season. He hit Damien Williams with a short TD flip to get within 17-14 early in the fourth quarter, then found his elusive running back again with a 23-yard completion that gave Kansas City its first lead at 21-17 with 7:45 remaining in the game.“They blitzed about every down White Drew Bledsoe Jerseys , played man coverage, and they were able to get home a little bit on some of their games,” Chiefs coach Andy Reid said. “We made a few adjustments at halftime, should have done that earlier — that’s my responsibility. But I’m proud of the way the guys battled back.”But the Patriots kept battling, too.Brady led them the other way, and Sony Michel scored from 10 yards on fourth down, only for the Chiefs’ mop-haired QB to answer with a 38-yard pass to Sammy Watkins that set up Williams’ TD run.Back came the Patriots, who in their eighth consecutive conference championship game showed no sign of nerves. They caught a break when an interception was wiped out by an offside call, and Burkhead’s TD run with 39 seconds left appeared to have given New England a 31-28 victory. Then again, Mahomes long ago proved that 39 seconds can last an eternity. He immediately found running back Spencer Ware for 21 yards, the only meaningful play the backup running back made all game. Then, Mahomes hit Demarcus Robinson for 39 yards to the Patriots 21 with 16 seconds left Drew Bledsoe Jerseys 2019 , giving the Chiefs — without any timeouts — one shot at the end zone.Mahomes wound up throwing it away, and Harrison Butker’s 39-yard field goal forced overtime.By that point the Patriots knew full well the best way to stop Mahomes was to keep him on the bench. So their confidence no doubt soared when they won the coin toss for overtime, and Brady took advantage of the opportunity by finding Julian Edelman and Rob Gronkowski on their march downfield.Mahomes could only look on as the Patriots ended his dream season.“They challenged us,” he said. “They came up and played man defense. Not a lot of teams did that this year. The first half we struggled, we couldn’t make much happen. The second half we were up to the challenge, we found ways to win one-on-one matchups.“We gave everything we had,” Mahomes said. “They ended up making more plays at the end.”

New York Giants wide receiver Golden Tate III never hesitated to take a prescribed fertility drug because the doctor who wrote the prescription told him he had given it to other NFL players and it was not banned.Speaking to reporters a day after an independent arbiter upheld his suspension for the first four games of the regular season, Tate said Wednesday he was considering legal action against the doctor to recover the $1.2 million in salary he will lose during his suspension. He did not identify the doctor. In the candid interview after practice, Tate said he was frustrated New York Giants Jersey 2019 , accepted both the blame and the punishment, and added he was having a tough time for letting down his teammates and the organization for the start of the season."I have been thinking about this since April and May," Tate said. "This has been on my mind. I have lost a lot of sleep. It's kind of hurt me to my core having to explain to the organization what is going on. I'm just ready to move forward. I just want to play football. You look at me. I am not trying to cheat."Tate signed a $37.5 million contract as a free agent with the Giants in March. He said he started taking a fertility drug in April and a couple of days later said he was randomly tested for drugs by the league. He learned shortly after that the drug, which he said was clomifene, was a banned substance.Under the current collective bargaining agreement, players can use fertility drugs, but they must get prior approve before taking them. Tate did not."Initially the doctor said it was not a banned substance and he had given it to other NFL players, that's why I trusted it and kept living my life," Tate said. The 10-year veteran said he had second thoughts after talking about another player being suspended with someone who worked for him."A light kind of went off in my head and I decided to call the doctor and make sure, just to make myself feel better," Tate said. "I asked what the active ingredient was and he looked it up right then and there, and sure enough it was a banned substance."If the doctor says I'm not sure, 100% I would have looked into it Cheap Dexter Lawrence Jersey ," Tate said, adding he had looked into other drugs prescribed for him. "If the doctor had said I had never given it to any other NFL players, 1,000% I would have looked into it."Tate and his wife, Elise, had their second child in February. He would not say why they went to a fertility specialist two months later."That's pretty personal," he said. "I don't want to get into it,"While he didn't answer the question, he was reminded he called two former Seattle teammates selfish for being suspended for using a recreation drug."That's a completely different situation than me taking a substance trying to have another kid," said Tate, who split last season with the Lions and Eagles, catching 74 receptions for 795 yards and four touchdowns in 15 games.Clomifene, which has the trade name of Clomid Red Dexter Lawrence Jersey , can increase testosterone in males."It's very frustrating. I have no problem accepting the punishment," said Tate, who first tweeted about his suspension in late July, saying he would appeal it. "Ultimately I am responsible for what is put in my body, ultimately. The tough thing I am dealing with is that I am letting down a lot of people. The guys in the locker room. The people in the organization. That's what has been crushing me this whole situation."Tate is eligible to practice in the preseason and play in games. He can have no contact with the team during his suspension.Giants coach Pat Shurmur said a number of players will be used to replace Tate, including Bennie Fowler, Cody Latimer, Russell Shepard, Darius Slayton and TJ Jones.
